A five equation reduced model for compressible two phase flow problems

چکیده
This paper studies an Eulerian diffuse interface model for the simulation of compressible multifluid and two-phase flow problems. We first show how to derive this model from a seven equation, two pressure, two velocity model of Baer–Nunziato type using an asymptotic analysis in the limit of zero relaxation time. We then study the mathematical properties of the system, the structure of the waves, the expression of the Riemann s invariants and the existence of a mathematical entropy. We also describe two different numerical approximation schemes for this system. The first one relies on a linearized Riemann solver while the second uses more heavily the mathematical structure of the system and relies on a linearization of the characteristic relations. Finally, we present some numerical experiments and comparisons with the results obtained by the two pressure, two velocity model as well as some test cases and comparisons with another five equation model recently proposed for interface computations between compressible fluids. 2004 Elsevier Inc. A preconditioned solver for sharp resolution of multiphase flows at all Mach numbers
A preconditioned five-equation two-phase model coupled with an interface sharpening technique is introduced for simulation of a wide range of multiphase flows with both high and low Mach regimes. Harten-Lax-van Leer-Contact (HLLC) Riemann solver is implemented for solving the discretized equations while tangent of hyperbola for interface capturing (THINC) interface sharpening method is applied ...
متن کاملAn Anti-diffusion Based Eulerian Interface-sharpening Algorithm for Compressible Two-phase Flow with Cavitation
We describe a novel interface-sharpening approach for the efficient numerical simulation of compressible two-phase flow with cavitation. The algorithm uses a five-equation transport model developed by Allaire et al. (J. Comput. Phys. 181 (2002) 577-616) as the basis, and incorporates both the auxiliary antidiffusive terms to the equations as a model for interface sharpening and an energy-preser...
متن کاملCentral Upwind Scheme for a Compressible Two-Phase Flow Model
In this article, a compressible two-phase reduced five-equation flow model is numerically investigated. The model is non-conservative and the governing equations consist of two equations describing the conservation of mass, one for overall momentum and one for total energy. The fifth equation is the energy equation for one of the two phases and it includes source term on the right-hand side whi...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Turbulent Subsonic Compressible Flow through Rectangular Microchannel
In this study, turbulent compressible gas flow in a rectangular micro-channel is numerically investigated. The gas flow assumed to be in the subsonic regime up to Mach number about 0.7. Five low and high Reynolds number RANS turbulence models are used for modeling the turbulent flow. Two types of mesh are generated depending on the employed turbulence model. The computations are performed for R...
متن کاملInviscid Compressible Flow in Meridional Plane of an Axial Flow Compressor
In this paper it is attempted to investigate the behavior of an inviscid flow in the meridional plane of an axial flow compressor. For this purpose the 3-D unsteady Euler equations in cylindrical coordinate are averaged in tangential direction. Therefore, the equations are reduced to a 2-D system. By averaging the tangential component of momentum equation, a blade force will result. Axial and r...
